Pastoral and Campus Staff

The Programme Director oversees the day-to-day running of the programme. They are assisted by a team of Counsellors who are often current members of the University of Oxford or University of Cambridge. The Counsellors ensure that students are taken care of pastorally, culturally and socially during their stay.

Student Welfare

The safety and security of students is ORA’s top priority. All of our campuses are safe, secure environments, perfect for our students. Each campus is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by a team of Porters. In addition, Oxford Royale Academy’s comprehensively trained team of campus staff are always on hand.

Campus Staff

Each of our campuses has a variety of staff members whose responsibility it is to ensure that our students are properly looked after during their free time and weekends. All our pastoral staff members receive extensive training to ensure that they are properly equipped to deal with any problems that students might encounter during their time with ORA. Students joining us for a summer course will encounter the following members of staff on their campus:

Programme Director

Each ORA campus has a Programme Director (PD), who is responsible for the day-to-day running of the summer school at their College. PDs are residential for the duration of the programme, so they are always close by should they be needed. PDs typically have many years experience in education and the management of schools, colleges and student welfare. Some of our larger centres will also have a Deputy Programme Director.

Junior Dean

The Junior Deans (JDs) assist the Programme Director with the management of the summer school at their campus. They will also be responsible for leading excursions and activities. JDs are typically returning for their third summer with Oxford Royale, or have extensive experience in summer schools or camps elsewhere.

Deputy Programme Director

The Deputy Programme Director (DPD) will work closely with and deputise for the Programme Director at one of our prestigious college sites. The DPD will help the PD manage a site team and campus to ensure that the high expectations of academic delivery, safety, welfare, organisation and general student enjoyment are met.

Counsellor

Each ORA campus has a team of Counsellors who will be a student’s first point of contact in most cases. All Counsellors are friendly, approachable and thoroughly trained by Oxford Royale in the management of events for young people. Many of our Counsellors are current or former members of top universities in the UK; they are always happy to discuss careers or admissions with our students.

Administrator

The Administrators are essential members of the team who ensure that the academic operations run to a high standard throughout the summer programme. They help coordinate morning and afternoon lessons for students across a number of sites.

Welfare Officers

Our dedicated Welfare Officers are available to students throughout their stay. They are committed to fostering student health to ensure educational success. They manage this through long-established links with local health care professionals and General Practitioners (GPs), as well as through access to world-leading hospitals.
